ABOUT REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology is a general health service, a complementary healing therapy.

Reflexology, an integrative health practice, maps a reflection of the body predominately on the feet, hands and outer ears. It uses unique manual techniques to deliver pressure to neural pathways assisting the body to function optimally.

Reflexology is a relatively new but has a long history. Reflexology is rooted in ancient hands-on therapies used by our ancestors for thousands of years. Ancient cultures of Egypt, India, China, Japan and Europe have left traces of footwork and healing practices. Hieroglyphs have been found that show a person pressing on a the bottom of a foot, exactly as contemporary reflexologists work.

In the West, the concept of reflexology began to emerge in the 19th century, based on research into the nervous system and reflexes. Early 20th century doctors began to research these special techniques discovered, and scientifically tested nerve reflex points. These were gradually mapped out as zones based charts, distinct from Acupuncture Meridian charts.

Stimulating these reflexes relaxes the entire body, reduces stress, reduces pain and inflammation and increases circulation. Reflexology helps to normalize all functions of the body, promoting a natural balance and a greater sense of well-being. It helps the body heal itself. The practice of Reflexology has proven to be effective for Relaxation and Stress Management and is used internationally by the medical community to compliment treatments and achieve better results for patients.

It should be noted that Reflexologists never Prescribe, Diagnose, Prognosticate, Treat for a specific illness, or adjust any client’s medications. In all sessions, I adhere to the highest professional standards and methods.
